20|20 RESEARCH INTRODUCES VIDEO ANALYSIS TOOL

New technology saves researchers time and improves reporting of video research

Conventional wisdom held that video-based research projects involving tens or hundreds of videos were always complicated, painstakingly slow and costly.
Videos had to be downloaded in real time, then viewed and searched one-by-one for key clips that revealed just the right nugget, then organized for editing. It meant hours, days or sometimes weeks of time to develop this critical visual support for a research project.

That has all changed now.

Global research technology and service company 20|20 Research launched its 20|20 OualMeeting Video Portal service giving researchers a centralized storage hub and real-time video transcription tool that enables all project videos to be quickly searched for just the right keyword or verbatim and edited into a customized compilation video that powerfully presents a study’s findings.

Tedious analysis and reports that once took days or weeks can now be completed and delivered in hours.
“We’ve aggregated the entire video research process and made reporting of video research a breeze,” said Jim Bryson, CEO, 20|20 Research. “With state-of-the art, high-precision transcriptions, all video recordings associated with each project are now completely searchable, which saves researchers time during this critical part of the survey reporting process. And, we have bundled the service with our existing service so there is no additional cost for the transcription or Video Portal.”
The Video Portal feature is free, easy-to-use and comes as a part of 20|20’s QualMeeting Plus, a platform that allows the researcher to focus on study design and analysis and not worry about the details of project execution. It’s also accessible from any researcher’s laptop, tablet or Smartphone.

In this new process, videos are machine-transcribed using a natural-language processing (NLP) engine, which passes once through the transcript to develop context (for example, “healthcare,” “travel” or “finance”) and then again using this context to improve the machine’s accuracy. With this method, 20|20 has upgraded its machine transcription accuracy to where it nearly matches many human transcription services.
If clients want to add a third level of human-powered transcription as part of the service, they can do so and improve accuracy to near ninety-five percent. These human-powered transcriptions are delivered back into the video portal automatically for searching and analysis.
Once in the portal, a researcher can review all time-coded videos via key words or phrases. In addition to transcription, analysis and editing, researchers can store their videos in the video portal for later analysis as needed.

“In essence, we’ve developed a “YouTube-like” system that doesn’t just find a specific video, but a specific moment in a specific video, even if a project involves hundreds of videos,” Bryson said. “Now, researchers will be able to easily compile and present to their clients truly impactful report videos in almost no time at all.”
At this time the service is for English-language clients, but other languages will be added in the near future.
